Pokémon GO user is arrested for assault
On August 16, a 35 year old man was arrested for suspicion of assault in Hokkaido. According to police, the man was walking down the street while playing the Pokémon GO smartphone game, when he struck another man in the face after seeing him playing the same game in his car.
Police reports revealed that the altercation started when the gamer came across a car parked on the wrong side of the road, in the opposite direction of traffic. When he came over to check, he saw that the driver was also playing Pokémon GO, lost his mind and kicked the vehicle.
The man inside, also in his thirties, got out of his car and chased the man, but when he caught up with him he received two blows to the face. The driver managed to immobilize the attacker and handed him over to the police, who quickly rushed to the scene.
The assailant turned out to be an employee of a nearby company, and he mentioned that he kicked the car because he was angry at the carelessness of the driver who parked it on the wrong side of the street. “I looked inside and saw that he was playing the same game as me, and I lost my mind because I was playing while violating traffic laws,” he said. Although, although the man did comment on this, the internet community is not really convinced that this was the cause.
