Following performances of Rurouni Kenshin’s play are canceled

On the official site for the “Kyoto Arch” plays based on the manga and anime Rurouni Kenshin by Nobuhiro Watsuki, it was announced that the production of the musical performance tour has been canceled in its entirety due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The musical was scheduled to take place in Tokyo between November 3 and December 15.

The announcement noted that director Shuuichirou Koike and the musical’s sponsors reached the decision after numerous meetings, and in the end, both parties decided to prioritize the safety of the audience, cast, and staff.

Teppei Koike was scheduled to play the story’s protagonist, Kenshin Himura. Shuuichirou Koike, who wrote the 2016 musical Takarazuka and the 2018 play based on the same title, reportedly returned to direct and write the script for this new musical.
